I grew up in New York, but spent my high school years in Germany. After completing/surviving the International Baccalaureate, I spent a year in Florence, Italy. Then I returned to New York to study journalism at New York University.
My career in book publishing started at Other Press. I couldn’t believe my fortune working with brilliant literary writers such as Yvette Christianse and Tom Sancton, whose book tour took me to New Orleans where I was introduced to jazz (and beignets). I then joined John Wiley and Sons to work on business books, and learned “The New Rules of Marketing and PR” from David Meerman Scott.
I moved to San Francisco and fell in love with the Bay Area thanks to a vibrant, charming man who is now my husband. I worked at the intersection of books and tech for five years during my time at Goodreads/Amazon, and interviewed several famous writers in person, including Roxane Gay, Andy Weir, and Neal Stephenson. I then found a way to pursue my passion for food with books when I joined Chronicle Books. After more than a decade in publishing, I decided to dive into the culinary world at Ghirardelli and currently market their products to a professional foodservice audience.
I speak German fluently and some Italian and French. I’m a mom and stepmom. I’m terrible at remembering bands or songs that I like. I enjoy trying new restaurants, traveling to countries where I don’t speak the language, reading contemporary literature, cooking big dinners, baking cakes and trying new recipes.
